What To Do In Phuket

Published 3rd July 2020

Phuket is Thailand’s most popular tourist island, and is also the largest. Covering around 576 square kilometres, which is around the same size as Singapore, it’s big enough to offer everything from beachy island vibes to historic towns to dense jungle. It’s easy to see why this paradise is so popular so we’ve made a list of the best things to do in Phuket on your next trip!

What to do?

Visit the Elephants – Phuket is home to one of our favourite ethical elephant sanctuaries, Elephant Jungle Sanctuary, so what better place to get up and close personal with these beauties! You’ll get the chance to feed and bathe them as well as learn about the species and local conservation efforts!

See the Big Buddha – The imaginatively named Big Buddha is one of Thailand’s biggest, Standing at 45 metres high. It can be found perched on the mountain top overlooking Chalong Bay and the view is just as impressive as the Buddha itself! There is also a popular temple on the hill where you can learn about Buddhists traditions and even get blessed by a monk!

Get the Adrenaline Pumping – Phuket is a bit of a haven for adrenaline junkies. You’ll find endless options from quad biking to water sports to bungee jumping but our favourite is zip lining in the forest! Soar through the tress and take in the view on over 20 zip lines, abseils and bridges!

Hit the Beach – Of course, you can’t go to a Thai island without checking out the local beach, and Phuket has some of the most beautiful! Grab your book and a towel for a relaxing day or opt for a more action packed day! Take a surfing lesson or see the beach from above whilst parasailing above the ocean!

What shall I eat?

Well where do we begin?! Phuket has pretty much every option you could dream of when it comes to food. If you fancy something local, Red Chopsticks offers fantastic Thai food at great prices (and it’s right next door to the Camp hotel!) so it’s a firm favourite. You’ll also find some of Thailand’s best pizza across the street at Napoli in Vespa. This is a little pricier but is definitely worth it if you’re craving good western food!

Does Phuket sound like your idea of fun?! Explore it with us on our Camp Phuket, Camp Island Hop and Ultimate Adventure programmes!

Much love,

Just down the road from your accommodation is an amazing Pizza restaurant, where you get a free beer with every pizza ;)There are also amazing american and mexican restaurants for those burgers, fajita, nachos and sandwich cravings we all get!The local supermarket that is literally on every corner in Thailand is called 7/11. They offer lots of great snacks, but the main thing everyone goes for and gets addicted to is the 7/11 cheese and ham toasties that are cooked right there in the store and are super cheap! They also sell english chocolate for that little taste of home when you need it :)If you are vegetarian or veganthere is also so much on offer, including lots of falafel stands and in most restaurants you can easily request for dishes to be vegetarian! Can I relax? When Camp life gets too much, sometimes you just want to switch off for a couple of hours! No problem :)The accomodation we stay in Phuket has a lovely pool with sunbeds where you can relax, or a short walk down the street you will arrive at the beach where you can read a book and top up that tan
